# How Moov Money works

Moov Money moves money from one person to another using a secure link. Here's the full journey from start to finish.

## 1. The sender starts a payment

The sender enters an amount and, optionally, a short note about what the payment is for. This happens inside their bank's or financial institution's app. Moov Money generates a secure claim link for the payment.

## 2. The recipient gets a link

The sender shares the link with the recipient, usually by text message. The link looks like:

```
`https://moov.money/c/...`
```

The link is unique to that payment and is valid for **10 days**.

## 3. The recipient opens and accepts the payment

When the recipient opens the link, they'll see who sent the money, the amount, and any note. They accept the payment to continue.

## 4. The recipient verifies their phone number

To keep the network safe, the recipient verifies their identity with a one-time code sent by text message, or with a passkey if they've set one up before.

## 5. The recipient chooses where to receive the money

The recipient picks how to get paid:

- Apple Pay or Google Pay, or
- A US-issued Visa or Mastercard debit card or reloadable prepaid card.

## 6. The money arrives

Once confirmed, the funds are sent to the chosen card or wallet — usually within minutes. Exactly when the money becomes available can depend on the recipient's bank.

## Good to know

- The recipient does not need to download an app or open a bank account to receive money.
- The claim link is what unlocks the payment, so it should be treated like a private message and never shared with anyone else.
